Day 12: No Hair!
Since it was falling out, we decided a “shearing” was in order. Now it’s time for hats!
I
am progressing as the doctors expected 12 days after the transplant. I
am getting daily injections to stimulate the production of white blood
cells and daily platelet transfusions as well as intermittent blood
transfusions — all normal for this process.
The
doctors expect my blood counts to rebound over the next couple of
days. I am feeling some bone and joint pain, which could be a sign that
the donor stem cells are beginning to produce new white blood cells in
my bone marrow. My white blood cells and platelets need to stabilize
before I am released, I hope later this week or early next week.
Thank you for all your positive energy to help me stay positive and strong!
