Day 97: Happy New Year
Our year finished on a high note! Steve’s hemoglobin count is the highest since his diagnosis and his other blood counts remain stable. His latest blood counts bolster our positive outlook for the upcoming bone marrow biopsy in January and a full recovery in 2020.
After Day 100 from transplant, just a few days away, UCSF will gradually release Steve from “house arrest” as his immune system regenerates and the risk of infection and acute graft-versus-host disease subsides. No Warriors games yet! But UCSF has been sufficiently confident in Steve’s progress to allow us to celebrate Christmas with Tami’s family in Lafayette and to ring in 2020 with all three boys and Steve’s sister Elizabeth’s family in Lake Tahoe. We are walking trails along Squaw Creek while the boys ski and snowboard with their cousins.
Steve is officially a retired partner from White & Case, where he worked for over 22 years. The firm has been a huge part of our wild, wild adventures around the world. We are very grateful to everyone at White & Case for their support since Steve’s diagnosis. He is looking forward to working on projects with his colleagues as Of Counsel in the future.
We wish you all a happy and healthy 2020 and thank you for your encouragement and support along our journey!
Love,
Steve and Tami
